Tòtem, de Macià Florit Campins (2024, VOC, 17’)

Today is the last day of work at the quarry of Toni’s family, the last artisanal breaker left on the island of Menorca. Laetitia is a sculptor committed to fighting to keep Toni’s quarry from filling up with waste. Together they embark on a journey to the heart of the quarry, which erodes and is reborn in the form of a new being, the totem.

Macià Florit Campins is a Menorcan filmmaker who lives and works in Barcelona. He graduated in Humanities from the UPF and studied the master’s degree in documentary film at Centro Cultural Matadero in Madrid. His first feature film as a director, Homeland stone, premiered at DocLisboa and was nominated for the European Doc Alliance award, and selected at festivals such as Visions du Réel, DOK Leipzig, Black Canvas, Majordocs or Alcances, where it received the sea ​​horn award as the best film.

 

Guaret, de Josep Alorda Roca (2023, VOC, 15’)

Pedro, son of a mother from Burgos and a father from Mallorca, finds solace in the work of Damià Huguet. Huguet’s poems allow him to remember his father and connect with his roots, even though he does not fully understand the words in Majorcan.

Joseph Alorda made his directorial debut in 2021 with faded spring. His work reflects a deep understanding of the complexities of human emotions and a keen eye for telling visually striking stories.

 

UNS SEGONS EN CEL·LULOIDE, de Ferran Bex (2023, VO, 24 min.)

In Mallorca in 1982, where film production was non-existent, the most important film of the moment was shot in Bunyola: Bearn. Based on the testimony of some unexpected actors who participated in the film, we will meet the little stories that go unnoticed.

Ferran Bex he has been the director and screenwriter of the miniseries in your life i Norats. He is also the director of the series Pep. He has worked as a screenwriter in series The Ring, shadows of my land, midday i Hotel Bellavista.

 

We weren’t meant to go to Guinea, de Clara Pons Martí (2024, VOSC, 19’)

The short documentary tells us firsthand how the workers and volunteers of the URBOND foundation overcome difficulties when offering educational opportunities to children in one of the poorest countries in the world. 

The first short documentary that Clara Pons signs. She graduated in Communication at the University of Portsmouth and has participated in audiovisual projects such as Els inexperts, Sa cuina des records, by Àlex Arroyo, and Eulàlia, directed by the filmmaker Ariadna Fortuny.
