ALTARS PROFANS
With the collaboration of the Toni Catany Foundation
Altars profans was the last exhibition conceived by Toni Catany. Initiated in Brussels in 2013, it became a posthumous tribute in Barcelona shortly after his death. The exhibition was extended to Llucmajor in 2014, and later traveled to Palma and Formentera. Now, the Toni Catany Foundation and the Cultural Association Es Far propose to bring this emblematic exhibition to Menorca, in recognition of the legacy of one of the great masters of contemporary photography.
The exhibition includes the last still lifes of Toni Catany, a visual synthesis of his inner world. Inspired by childhood memories and driven by symbolism, Catany creates authentic personal altars with loved objects, from his environment and his travels. With an austere and frontal aesthetic, these compositions transcend the simple image to become a tribute to beauty, art and life, and celebrate the cultural and emotional diversity of the world.
