THE KEYS TO DOCUMENTARY DISTRIBUTION
The DocsBarcelona Festival, led by Ainhoa Chacón, will present the essential keys to the documentary film distribution process. With a twenty-one-year track record, DocsBarcelona Distribution carries out ongoing activity in the distribution of documentary cinema throughout Spain. Its catalog is made up of more than 80 national and international films, and its activity takes place mainly through Docs del mes, a project that follows a model of cultural decentralization with the aim of giving everyone access to quality cinema.
The talk, aimed at the Balearic Islands’ audiovisual sector, will continue with a round table between the speaker and creators Núria Abad and Marta Hierro, of MOM Works. The aim of this meeting is to exchange experiences, challenges and distribution strategies from two distinct perspectives: that of a leading festival and that of a Balearic production company.
Ainhoa Chacón Pérez is head of Docs del Mes within the distribution department of the DocsBarcelona Festival, where she carries out various documentary distribution tasks. Committed to promoting cinema and developing cultural projects, she sees audiovisual work as a tool for cultural transformation.
Marta Hierro and Núria Abad joined their professional paths in 2014, after long individual careers. Their desire to tell in-depth stories had already led them into the world of documentary filmmaking, where they specialized in social, cultural, environmental, scientific and health-related topics. Their meeting gave rise to the production company MOM Works, with which they have developed various projects such as L’odissea del vell marí, Dorothea i el Myotragus, Maria i la pel·lícula oblidada, Memòries de Puerto Rico, Torrelló davant la càmera, La batlessa and El viatge definitiu, among others.
