BREAK: CAP A UN NOU ORDRE VISUAL

With Joan Fontcuberta

How has visual culture and the regime of images changed? At a time when photography is preparing to commemorate two hundred years of history, this conference proposes a pause to reflect on how visual culture has evolved during the first quarter of the 21st century. The objective is to review the last twenty-five years of evolution of photography and visual communication, analyzing the changes in the production, circulation and reception of images. In an increasingly digital and hybrid environment, questions are raised about the current role of photography, the transformation of visual languages and the influence they have on the construction of contemporary reality.

For more than four decades, Joan Fontcuberta (Barcelona, 1955) has developed an artistic work with photography, and has also deployed a plural activity as a teacher, essayist and exhibition curator. In 2013 he received the Hasselblad Foundation International Prize.
