Think about how strange your shadow is: it is at once proof that you are here, placed somewhere between the sun and what your silhouette is projected onto, and at the same time it is a portion of space you can never occupy, since you will never be able to coincide with your own shadow. A shadow is at once you and not you, like a photograph.
This workshop consists of three parts. It will begin with a talk by the artist about how shadows play a fundamental role in his work. This will be followed by a brief practical activity, in which participants will be invited to compose a small series of photographs linked to this theme. The rest of the workshop will be dedicated to individual sessions so that participants can show their photographs and ongoing projects to the artist and receive feedback on them.
