INVIERNO PROFANO, CARMENHU ALEMÁN
«Hivern Profà» (Profane Winter) is a photographic essay built as a conscious search for symbolic and archetypal iconography, during the ritual time of winter, in a rural setting in Spain and Portugal between the solstice and the day before Ash Wednesday.
Carmenchu Alemán. She began as a self-taught photographer and later completed the program and master’s degree at EFTI in Madrid. This year she was awarded a prize at the Encuentro Fotográfico de Euskal Herria Argazkia Puntu Eus, in the Navarra category, for her project «2001 San Fermín.» For more than twenty years, she has been developing projects on festivals, rituals, and traditions of Spain and Portugal.
