PRESENTATION OF PHOTOGRAPHIC PROJECTS: NEUS SOLÀ, SANTIAGO TORRADO AND JUDIT LUNA MINGUELL

Presentation of the photographic projects Cossos en simbiosi, by Neus Solà, Mar de ningú, by Santiago Torrado, and Lluna no ploris, by Judit Luna Minguell.

Cossos en simbiosi (Bodies in Symbiosis) is an artistic research project exploring the relationships between body, territory, and ecology in Menorca through processes of co-creation with women from the island, combining expanded photography, walks, photochemical experimentation, and ecofeminist thought.

Mar de ningú (Nobody’s Sea) is a report that ventures into the central Mediterranean aboard the Aita Mari, the ship of the NGO Salvamento Marítimo Humanitario (Humanitarian Maritime Rescue), deployed on one of the most dangerous migration routes in the world. Starting from the historical idea of the mare nostrum — understood as a space of dominion, exchange, and European centrality — it contrasts this notion with a radically different contemporary reality. Where once there was a shared sea, today “nobody’s sea” emerges: a fragmented space, crossed by invisible borders, SAR zones, and political decisions that determine who can be rescued, when, and under what conditions.

Lluna no ploris (Moon, Don’t Cry), drawing on family biography, is a call to reflect on addiction and mental health, with a particular focus on alcoholism, deeply present in our society and the central axis of the photographic series. Through research and artistic experimentation, it addresses the ethical conflicts that arise when autobiographical content is brought into public spaces. The reasons behind the work stem from personal experience, which the artist approaches out of vital necessity, with the intention of prompting reflection on the social issues it contains.
